When leaving my Brevard or Volusia County apartment for the holidays what are some tips you have to keep some peace of mind while away?

Leaving your Brevard or Volusia County apartment unattended for a long period of time can definitely be nerve racking. Chances are you’ll panic a few times while you’re gone hoping that everything is okay. There are a few steps you can take before leaving for the holidays that may assist you in keeping a somewhat relaxed state of mind while away.

One of the best things you can do before leaving your Brevard or Volusia County apartment for the holidays is turning your air conditioning unit up! While you’re away you don’t have to worry as much about all of the energy being pointlessly wasted. Turning your air conditioner up even a few degrees can help cut down on energy costs quite a bit. So while you’re away from your apartment you can find a little peace of mind knowing that you’re not hemorrhaging money to cool off an apartment that no one is currently occupying. Also remember to turn off all the lights and any appliances like TVs or alarm clocks that are of no use while you’re away. If you’re sure to double check these things before you leave you’ll find that you feel a lot more at ease. Unplugging any extra electronics that won’t be put to use can save you even more extra cash while you’re away. So unplug those game consoles, desktop computers, stereos and toasters, and if you live in an apartment with a washer and dryer you can even unplug that while you’re gone from your Brevard or Volusia County apartment.

Letting your Volusia or Brevard County apartment office know that you’ll be out of town can provide a great deal of peace of mind while you’re away. This way if they see anyone coming or going from your unit, or lurking around, they have the opportunity to take care of it since they know that you’re away. It's especially easy for landlords to notice something out of place if you live in a quiet apartment.

To save you some time and hassle when you get back to your Brevard or Volusia county apartment go ahead and clean your apartment thoroughly before you go. Make sure you empty all trash cans. No one wants to come home to the smell of rotting trash after they’ve been on vacation. Cleaning out the refrigerator is usually a good idea as well. No use keeping food that will be spoiling while you’re away. Usually throwing away items such as milk or leftovers is a good idea before leaving for any extended period of time.

Double and triple check that all doors and windows in your Volusia or Brevard County apartment are locked before you head out for vacation. Doing it several times makes the memory of a tightly locked up house stick in the front of your mind; which in turn will help a great deal with your nerves while you’re away. Knowing that your home is all locked up can provide you with a great peace of mind.
